About the Rental Subsidy Fund
The purpose of the Rental Subsidy Fund is to ensure that the A.R.T./New York Theatres are affordable rental spaces for our members in the long term. With generous underwriting from the A.R.T./New York Board of Directors, foundations, and individual donors, the Rental Subsidy Fund will ensure that our weekly rental rates remain affordable, and our rental fees are far below the true cost of operating the theatres and providing the staff support and state-of-the-art equipment that our renters will receive. Our goal is for the theatres to be made available for the community in accordance with A.R.T./New York's values.
Application
Members who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for the subsidy year-round for any available dates. Applications are reviewed by a peer panel, which will meet monthly. The first panel meeting will be in October to review applications received by September 30th. Afterward, all applications received by the end of a given month will receive a response by the end of the following month at the latest (i.e. an application received by November 29 with receive a determination by December 31).

Theatre Tours/Info Sessions
Tours of the A.R.T./New York Theatres are available for applicants to view the theatres and facilities and answer any questions they have about the Rental Subsidy Fund application.

Narrative Statement Review
Applicants who wish to receive comments on a draft of their narrative before submitting their application may send a draft to Programs Manager David E. Shane at [email protected]. Please review the guidelines for this process in our Grant Guidelines.
Available Dates
Dates that are currently available for long-term rentals are shown on the calendar below. All rental subsidy applications will be asked to include your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice date ranges. For current New York State guidelines, please visit the NY Forward website.
