Ready to go non-profit? The answer may be more complex than you think. From which 1023 form to tackle (there's more than one?), to how to budget three years in advance, to what needs to go in your narrative description, there's a lot to unpack...and that's just the application process. Before you invest your time and energy in 18 months of bureaucratic hoop-jumping, join FORGE Co-Founders Chie Morita and Greg Taubman for a discussion of what your ideal future company looks like, and whether the non-profit model is even the right one for you.

Since 2015, FORGE has been helping arts companies form, incorporate, go non-profit, build their boards, fund their programs, and plan for the future. Along the way they've helped individual makers and teams build LLCs, S-Corps, and other company structures to match their specific goals and needs. Learn about the options available and choose the path that best suits your ambition! And if non-profit is the path for you, FORGE has you covered and will orient you to the step-by-step process of earning--and keeping!--that shiny 501(c)(3) designation.

Grounded in the belief that how we work matters as much as what we create and why, FORGE NYC is a boutique arts consultancy that helps organizations and independent artists take the next step in their work. Through our process-oriented consulting engagements, productive developmental workspaces, and well-curated resources, we train makers to measure the real costs of their projects, to communicate the value of their work, and, ultimately, to forge a path to success. Created by Co-Founders Greg Taubman and Chie Morita in 2015, FORGE has been proud to consult with arts companies and solo creators across the US and the world, and to partner with member organizations including A.R.T./New York, The Artist Coop, The Indie Theater Fund, and The Empowered Artist Collective. For more information on FORGE, Chie, and Greg visit www.forgenyc.org.

All A.R.T./New York workshops, roundtables, and trainings feature automated captioning provided by Zoom. ASL interpretation and CART captioning services are available by request; requests must be made at least 5 business days before the event. For requests, accessibility information, or other accommodations please contact David Shane at [email protected].
