Do you run a theatre company, or know someone who does? If so, join your colleagues and become a member of A.R.T./New York! Full and Associate memberships are available to all nonprofit producing theatre organizations based within the five boroughs of New York City. Professional Affiliate memberships are available for individuals or companies that are not producing but are interested and engaged in New York theatre. Once a member of A.R.T./New York, all programs and services are free of charge.*

*Exceptions are our loan programs that charge an application fee and our office and rehearsal space rentals.

Full Membership

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must have self-produced in New York City for a minimum of two seasons. A season is defined as producing at least one production running a minimum of three (3) performances over the course of a year OR a series of readings;
  • Must be a professional theatrical producing organization with performances open to the general public; and
  • Must not charge fees to actors and directors to participate in theatrical productions of the organization. Members may charge fees only for legitimate classes and training programs and only if they are clearly dissociated from the theatre.

DUES FOR FULL MEMBERSHIP

Budget under $100,000: $150
Budget between $100,000-499,999: $200
Budget between $500,000-999,999: $450
Budget between $1,000,000-5,000,000: $750
Budget over $5,000,000: $850

NOTE: Member dues are subject to a 3% processing fee.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS FOR FULL MEMBERS

  • Eligible to apply for the Edith Lutyens and Norman Bel Geddes Foundation Design Enhancement Fund Grant if organization is a 501(c)(3);
  • Eligible to apply for the Fund for Small Theatres Grant (budget must be between $100K - 500K) if organization is a 501(c)(3); and
  • Eligible to apply for the Nancy Quinn Fund Grant (budget must be under $100K)

Associate Membership

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must not be eligible for FULL Theatre Membership;
  • Must be self-produced in New York City for less than two seasons; and
  • Must not charge fees to actors and directors to participate in theatrical productions of the organization. Members may charge fees only for legitimate classes and training programs and only if they are clearly dissociated from the theatre.
Nonprofit incorporation or 501(c)(3) tax exempt status is not required for Associate Membership, though Associate Members may be under the umbrella of another organization.

DUES FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

$150.00 (no budget restrictions)

 

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS

  • Eligible to apply for the Nancy Quinn Fund Grant (budget must be under $100K).

Professional Affiliate Membership

Professional Affiliates do not meet the standard requirements for theatre membership. These may include colleges and universities, theatres outside of New York City, dance and music companies, presenting organizations, and theatre-related businesses.
