Spring Summit Kickoff Keynote Session

Tuesday June 4, 2024
10:00am-1pm ET

Format: In Person
Location: A.R.T./New York Spaces@520 // 520 8th Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY

Join us as we kick off our Spring Summit with a two-part keynote session facilitated by Edge Effect and Forge NYC! As administrators, artists, and practitioners aiming to “lead beyond the path”, we must first recognize the moments of frustration and challenge we have faced these past few years – to let go of what is no longer working, or no longer available to us. THEN we can move forward as our fullest selves. Join us for this moment of community-building filled with insight, laughter, and most importantly release. To actively combat the siloing of individual roles in our field, we encourage all A.R.T./New York members - from any department within an organization, or any freelance role in the field -  to attend this opening session.

Part One:  Goodbye to the Way Things Were
Created and Facilitated by Edge Effect

Goodbye to the Way Things Were is a low-stakes participatory experience to acknowledge how things have changed in the theater/nonprofit spheres. Through conversations and activities, members will be invited to name these new realities, express any feelings about them, release what holds us back, and carry the helpful things forward. This warm and welcoming space invites you to show up as-you-are, with all the skills and identities you bring to this new moment.

Part Two: Get Ready for What Comes Next
Facilitators: Chie Morita and Greg Taubman of Forge NYC

Get Ready For What Comes Next invites you to a session of fruitful dreaming and creative scheming. Moving from individual reflection, through small group discussion, to embodied group activity, we will engage with each other in identifying avenues of mutual support, collectively brainstorm opportunities, and walk away with at least one new lead for a resource to guide each of us as we move forward together.

ASL interpretation and CART captioning services are available by request; We kindly ask that requests for additional accommodations are submitted by Tuesday May 28. You may request accommodations directly on the registration form, or by contacting Ashley J.
