Seeking an Internship

Through the Intern Database and the annual Theatre Internship FairA.R.T./New York connects member theatre organizations with interns who care about the theatre and are deeply interested in learning how theatre is made.

2020 Theatre Internship Fair
in partnership with the American Theatre Wing

The 2020 Theatre Internship fair is an opportunity for students to meet and greet with theatre companies in New York City. All theatre companies present at the fair are seeking interns to support their work in fields such as production, marketing, fundraising, general management, and more. While most companies are offering internships for the upcoming Summer and Fall semesters, students can also find more immediate placement.

The 2020 Theatre Internship Fair will take place on Saturday, March 14th, at the
Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.

Registration for both theatre companies and interns will go live on Monday, January 27th, 2020.

If you are unable to make the fair this year, don't worry! We will host another one next year, and in the meantime, you can upload all of your information into our Theatre Intern Database where companies can search for interns all year-long.

About the fair:

  • Attendees will be given a catalog of all companies in attendance when they arrive, this cannot be distributed in advance. A.R.T./New York will not distribute a list of attending companies in advance, but all companies will be A.R.T./New York members. To see a current list of A.R.T./New York members, click here.
  • Students are encouraged to bring copies of their resume to distribute to companies they meet at the fair. Most companies will not be conducting interviews at the fair. This is not a casting opportunity.
  • When registering students must select an arrival time. These times are staggered to optimize capacity. Attendees are welcome to continue speaking with theatre companies until the end of the fair, regardless of arrival time.
  • To be added to the Theatre Intern Database, simply include a pdf of your resume when you register for the fair, there is no need to fill out the database registration form as well if you are already registering for the fair.

The 2020 Theatre Internship Fair is presented in partnership with American Theatre Wing and generously sponsored by the Michael Tuch Foundation.
