Format: In Person Location: A.R.T./New York Spaces@520 // 520 8th Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY

Are you thinking of taking the leap to become a registered 501(c)(3) organization? Incorporating as a 501(c)(3) is not the only way to structure a successful theatrical organization, nor is it the right choice for everyone. In fact, A.R.T./New York has long encouraged our members to explore a range of possibilities that are as unique as they are - it’s why you don’t have to have 501(c)(3) status to receive A.R.T./New York grants. However, we do think it’s important that our field has access to all of the relevant information they might need in order to make sound decisions about business practice. With all that has shifted in the past few years, including changes to NYSCA policies around funding LLCs, now is a prime time to examine this option with a fresh perspective. Whether you’ve not yet considered becoming a 501(c)(3), or if this is a moment when it might make sense to revisit your previous decision, this session is meant to debunk some myths and challenge our assumptions about whether or not this is the right leap to take. The process may not be as cumbersome as you think!
