Facilitated Member Meeting // November 2020

Monday, November 30, 2020
2:00pm - 3:30pm

At our Virtual Meet & Greet in September, we discussed ongoing transitions happening at A.R.T./New York and reintroduced ourselves as a work in progress. As the work continues, we hope you will join us for a bit of a progress report. We will utilize this time to discuss ongoing work to shift A.R.T./New York’s internal culture, as well as updates on what’s been happening fieldwide.

This virtual event will be moderated by Alexandra Meda who has been facilitating internal BIPOC affinity spaces and white learning affinity spaces for our staff as well as working meetings of the A.R.T./New York Board, Staff, and the We Are A.R.T./New York Coalition.

You will also hear from:

Diana Losito and Kirsten Sweeny, staff co-chairs of the Ethics and Accountability Committee, who will update you on the goals of this newly formed all-staff committee.

Niegel Smith and Moe Yousuf, Board Committee co-chairs, who have convened a special Antiracism Committee at the Board level to work alongside the staff to increase accountability and transparency on the board, provide an ongoing antiracism lens to all board practices, create a direct channel of communication between BIPOC staff members and board members, participate in the hiring of a facilitator for anti racist training for staff and board, and propose and garner board approval of a new grievance policy.

The Executive Committee of the Board will provide an update on A.R.T./New York’s Executive Director position.

Risa Shoup and Corinne Woods will discuss A.R.T./New York’s Advocacy Efforts.

…and your fellow A.R.T./New York Members! We recognize that change is happening all across our industry and within many of your own organizations. If you would like to share any recent progress, updates, or challenges with the community please let us know! Individually we don’t know everything, but together we know a lot. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to share your own experiences and to learn from your peers. If you would like to speak at this event, please email David Shane at [email protected]. There will be a live Q&A, but you may also email us to submit questions in advance.

We are eager to update you on our progress and to continue our dialogue with you! We hope to see you there!

Live captioning and ASL interpretation will be provided at this event. For additional accessibility information or other accommodation requests please contact Kirsten Sweeney at [email protected]

Zoom regularly releases new updates, the most recent of which increases user accessibility by allowing the host to spotlight multiple people, such as a speaker and an ASL interpreter. Be sure to check that you’ve upgraded to the latest version.
