TAs arts and culture organizations grapple with massive societal shifts, their intended programming may be on hold, but their audience relationships most certainly are not. Building upon Tom O’Connor’s recent piece, Engaging Arts Audiences in a Time of Trauma, this virtual workshop is designed to help cultural organizations center the experiences of their audiences in planning for reopening, leaning on a model of trauma-informed care used in health settings.

Tom O'Connor is a New York-based consultant and coach with experience spanning theatre (Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional), music, opera, dance, visual art, multi-disciplinary performing arts centers, and museums. He founded Tom O’Connor Consulting Group in 2015 with a focus on strategic advisory, coaching, and assessment services, as well as marketing leadership recruitment. This work has since supported organizations across a wide range of genres, locations, and budget categories. Beyond his marketing and audience development focus, he is also trained as a social worker, and utilizes a consulting philosophy that is based equally in healthy systems of human collaboration and community as it is in sound business practice. Tom is the former Director of Marketing & Audience Development for Roundabout Theatre Company, and serves on the faculty of the Yale School of Drama’s graduate Theater Management program.
