Save the Date! A.R.T./New York Community Forum — Seeking Alternatives — October 27th-29th, 2025

Autumn is once again upon us and so is A.R.T./New York’s 5th forum! This special multi-day event is a time for building relationships, collective learning and skill-building, and sharing resources, and specially designed to meet the needs of the NYC theatre community as they stand now.
“Together we must catalyze new approaches and reinvent the ways we work…release fear and reject the methods and structures that no longer serve you; trust your instincts and find bold new approaches to rethink how you govern, fundraise, and plan for the future.”- Health + Wealth: Empowering NYC Theatremakers Through Data
As we continue to navigate what has been an extremely tumultuous few years for the arts and culture sectors, we as theatremakers find ourselves in what seems to be a constant state of transition and adapting.
Guided by our findings from the Health+Wealth Report and in response to the needs of our theatremaking community, A.R.T./New York has chosen Seeking Alternatives as the theme for the upcoming forum!
To us, this means…
-
Seeking opportunities for shared strategy, labor, space, and expertise,
-
Recognizing when old systems simply don’t work anymore,
-
Investing in the partnerships, collaborations, and networks that make our work more resilient and sustainable,
-
And creating conditions for brave change!
Some of the topics to be explored in this year’s forum will include workforce solutions around hiring interim & part-time workers, expanding inclusive hiring practices, welcoming audiences with disabilities, producing for festivals, AND a special sneak peak into Next Stage — a brand-new A.R.T./NY initiative dedicated to supporting bold, strategic decisions for organizations at inflection points.
Wait…You Have a New Name? What is a Community Forum?
Screech. Hold up. Yes, we’ve changed the name of our in-person gatherings. “Fall Forum” is now named “Community Forum.” Why the shift? Seasons change, but our commitment to community is steadfast. Community Forum better reflects WHY we host multi-day in-person gatherings – it’s about YOU and the value we all get from spending time learning from one another in shared space.
Community Forums are important opportunities for theatremmakers to learn from their peers, exchange ideas and resources, and strengthen their professional network and support systems.
