A.R.T./New York Gala. The festivities begin April 28 with our honorees.

Wednesday, April 28th - Saturday, May 1st, 2021

Each year at the A.R.T./New York Gala, artists and supporters from all across the Broadway and Off-Broadway community celebrate the importance of theatre, the impact of advocacy, and the success of the thousands of artists who rely on A.R.T./New York to make their dreams come true. 

This April, A.R.T./New York will host a four-night, virtual celebration saluting three visionaries— Tony Award-winning director, writer and dramaturg Rachel Chavkin, award-winning author, playwright, and philanthropist Penny Jackson, and Tony Award-winning actress Ali Stroker.

In this unprecedented celebration, A.R.T./New York will proudly host four distinct evenings, each night premiering unique panels and/or performances, beginning with a VIP Kick Off event on Wednesday, April 28th to celebrate our three honorees, the resilience of our field, and our future together.

This series is designed to delight and inform EVERY member of our community with tickets available for as little as $1. Join us for panel conversations about how small theatres plan to rebuild and grow, a look at artistry through the lens of disabled theatre makers, and premiers of new works from members that have continued creating during the pandemic.

April 28th @ 8:00 PM (VIP Cocktail beginning @ 7:00 PM)

This celebration of all things A.R.T./New York begins with board chair Deadria Harrington and interim executive director Risa Shoup, hosting an evening of community with our honorees and member artists. We'll discuss our goals for the future and enjoy a special performance - all beginning with an exclusive virtual VIP cocktail for our generous supporters!

April 29th @ 8:00 PM

Featuring a panel discussion with some amazing creators talking about accessibility in artistry. You’ll hear from our honoree, Ali Stroker. And Roberto Cambeiro and Kirsten Sweeney from our staff will be joined by board member Moe Yousuf to talk about A.R.T./New York’s historic and future access programs and accessible spaces. 


April 30th @ 8:00 PM

Featuring a panel discussion with field leaders discussing how their work and art aligns with the call for racial justice and equity in the arts. You’ll hear from our honoree, Rachel Chavkin. And director of programs Corinne Woods will be joined by board member Dane Browne to talk about the essential role A.R.T./New York is playing in the recovery of New York's non profit theatre community. 

May 1st @ 8:00 PM

In the finale of our Gala Series, our key institutional supporters share their stories and two of our grant recipients, SheNYC Arts and wild project, present exclusive performances that were produced in the face of the challenges of COVID-19. You'll hear from Rachel Weinsten and our honoree, Penny Jackson, in an evening hosted by our communications manager, Nathalie Thomas, and board member Daphne Rubin Vega.

Following nightly premiere events, all performances and panels will be made available on public domain for everyone to access.  When you make a donation, you're invited to the exclusive premier of all 4 events!

The need for our services has only increased, and A.R.T./New York is playing an essential role in the recovery of the non profit theatre field and by extension the whole of New York City’s economy. Join us in celebrating the resilience of our field and help us reach our goal of $300,000 to support the future of New York City's non profit theatres!
