Musicals Tonight! - Li'l AbnerOPEN REHEARSAL SERIES: MUSICALS TONIGHT!

Monday, March 5, 2012
A.R.T./New York
520 8th Avenue, 3rd Floor
New York, NY
Bruce Mitchell Room

The Open Rehearsal Series is designed to give theatergoers a behind-the-scenes look at how our member companies produce plays. Supporters of A.R.T./New York will be introduced throughout the year to members of different genres and given the opportunity to observe each group's unique rehearsal process. This insider perspective is meant to both entertain audiences and illustrate the ways in which A.R.T./New York helps our 300 members reach their creative potential.

This new series begins Monday, March 5th, 2012 with Musicals Tonight! Join us for the first rehearsal of their upcoming production, L'il Abner. The evening will start with introductory remarks by Artistic Director Mel Miller and Director Thomas Sabella-Mills, followed by introductions of the cast and crew -- who will be meeting each other for the first time. Enjoy a read-through of the script and listen to the artistic team discuss their goals for the production. Guests are also welcome to stay for the first music rehearsal at 9pm if they wish.

Doors will open at 5:45pm and rehearsal starts promptly at 6pm.

This first Open Rehearsal is free to all current supporters of A.R.T./New York. Space is limited, and reservations will be taken on a first come first serve basis. To RSVP please contact Diana Buirski, Manager of Individual Giving, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or (212) 244-6667 ext. 242.

Musicals Tonight!, now in its 14th season and honored with an OBIE Award, is a not-for-profit theatre company in New York City primarily dedicated to the revival of "neglected" musicals in a manner affordable to most audience members. Since their inception in 1997, they have revived well over 65 musicals in staged concert form (charging only $25 per ticket and operating under an Actors' Equity Association Showcase Code). Because these musicals are produced as staged concerts, they can focus on the work and the performers and place less attention on costume and scenic details.

L'il Abner will run at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) March 20-April 1, 2012. For more information, visit www.musicalstonight.org.
