A NOTE FROM ANN MARIE //
NYTP NOMINATIONS

Dear Members:

Last week, we hit a major milestone: there are now more than 400 members of A.R.T./New York ranging from our founding members, to companies across all five boroughs, to our newest category of membership, Independent Producers.

But we know, 400 is still not all of your colleagues making theatre in New York City. So when we were asked to take on the Mellon New York Theatre Program, we knew we needed to find a way to reach outside the membership and form new connections. Some of the current grantees of NYTP aren't A.R.T./New York members, and many companies worthy of consideration are not connected to us... yet.

We have an opportunity to be more inclusive, in many different ways. This is why we created the nomination form and have asked you to nominate your company and other companies you know and love to be considered. We hope this process will allow us to connect with theatremakers who are new to A.R.T./New York, though not necessarily new to the community.

We want to grow the pool of companies under consideration for the grant, and we can only do that with your help!

So, a few things you can and should do:

  • nominate your own company!
  • nominate the company that produced the coolest show you have seen in the last few years!
  • nominate a presenter that you love that has nurtured you and your work!
  • give yourself a high five!

None of this is formal and we are not interested in measuring how many nominations a company gets or which fancy "so-and-so" nominated a company. We are interested in inclusivity and meeting new folks working in the space.

Thank you so much for going on this journey with us!

Best wishes,

Ann Marie, Deputy Director
