Full Membership
To be eligible for FULL Theatre Membership, a theatre must:
- Be an incorporated, nonprofit company with tax exempt, 501(c)(3) status
- Self produce in New York City and have produced a minimum of two seasons. A season is defined as producing at least one production running a minimum of three (3) performances over the course of a year OR a series of readings
- Be a professional theatrical producing organization with performances open to the general public
- Not charge fees to actors and directors to participate in theatrical productions of the organization. Members may charge fees only for legitimate classes and training programs and only if they are clearly dissociated from the theatre.
An exception to the above may be accommodated if your organization co-produces and it meets the guidelines set forth above. Co-producers are defined as producers who are involved with the initiation, artistic development and execution of theatrical works in conjunction with another producing organization and/or individual performance artists.
FULL Theatre Members may suspend operations for one year without jeopardizing their membership status as long as full dues are paid. After one year, if operations are not resumed, membership in A.R.T./New York will be retracted, and the theatre must reapply to be readmitted as a FULL Theatre Member when its operations are resumed.
